Counselling can be a daunting prospect for the majority of us, that’s why I have set out what you can expect from me should you feel that I might be the right therapist for you.
You can expect me to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space for you to explore your inner world with warmth, full acceptance of you and what you bring in the here and now; however difficult any thoughts, feelings or behaviours may be.
You can expect that I will always remain genuine, transparent and be aware of my own limitations. I am a human being, I am flawed and as humble as the next person. I do not have a magic wand that can solve your problems. I do have a tapestry of life experience and therapeutic training and dedication to personal growth and those are the resources I will draw upon to help facilitate the therapeutic process.
I will assume nothing and always respect the fact that you are the expert of your world. I will never overrule your point of view or tell you that you are wrong.
You can expect a commitment from me to promote your well-being, to be trustworthy, to respect your right to self-govern and to always treat you fairly.
You can expect me to place myself in your shoes and walk around in them, fully and completely immersing myself in your world while you engage in this transformative journey of self-discovery and healing.
You can expect me to be empathetic, kind and compassionate to you, even if you find it hard to extend them to yourself.
You can expect me to maintain ethical, safe practice in line with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
You can expect me to maintain the highest level of professional standards and continue to participate in all aspects of training and professional development.
